MASHABLE

        BLOG 1: MASHABLE

Mashable has all the latest news from around the world under all contents. It was created in July 2005 by Pete Cashmore. The name "Mashable" must describe how all the content is mashed together on my page. There's sections for Entertainment, Culture, Technology, Science, Business, and Social Goods. Mashable allows other countries such as Asia, Australia, France, India, and UK access to their content. With the overwhelming display of content  the company gives the visitors the opportunity to search for a job. Anyone can subscribe to the global multi-platform media company if they're in the selection regions.

  1. Of all the blogs we looked at this week for class, I think Mashable was the only one I instantly recognized. The site covers such a broad range of topics, it may not be 'about' Web 2.0 in that sense but certainly relies on Web 2.0 technology as a collaborative blog. It's clear that the content there is meant to be linked across other platforms given how prominent the "shared" counts are. :) I usually like the articles on Mashable, especially since there's so much of it to choose from, but I've always found the site annoying to use due to their full page ads. Revenue is important of course, especially if they have a large user base, but it's frustrating to have your browser freeze for an ad while you're in the middle of reading something.

  2. Mashable is more than just a blog; it is a social network. While the blog format may not resemble a "traditional" social networking site such as Facebook or Twitter, its ability to allow users to share information makes it so, which is very applicable in a Web2.0 sense. Very Informative!
