INSTANT MESSAGING
Instant Messaging is sending someone a message at an instance, real time connection. You can communicate with people using IM via internet. I remember first using IM on Yahoo email back in 2005. I was a preteen just excited to talk to my classmates outside of school without any interruptions. It was rare to have a computer in the household. I was one of the lucky ones.
Now so many more social platforms have been created to connect with one another instantly. Facebook is one of the top social networks that has instant messaging and live video messaging. You can go to Facebook Messenger, click on any one of your friends, and instantly connect with them even if they may not answer they will get a missed call alert.
For collaboration purposes instant messaging has the access to send people some pictures, videos, and links to each other. If I am connecting with my business partner, who may be out of reach for a physical meet up, I can connect with them via any instant messaging. Smart phones have many ways to connect with people instantly through social platforms (Twitter, Instagram, and other apps) and even text messaging. I just realized that iPhones called their messages iMessage which could be short for Instant Message. ;)
